Personal application software


There are lots of computer applications witch help in individuals perform their work at home and office. These types of software are called user software or personal productivity software.

  •  Word Processing


With the help of these applications it is possible to create, edit, print, and check spelling, create tables, insert formulas, create graphics and printing of documents (letters, memo, reports) by electronically processing your text data (words, phrases, sentences).
Example: MS Word, Writer, Louts Word Pro, Corel WordPerfect

  •    Spreadsheet Analysis



Useful for business analysis, planning and modeling People use spreadsheet to prepare budgets, forecast profits, summarize and analyze data. When numbers and calculations involved spreadsheet is a good approach to use. The spreadsheet performs necessary calculation based on the formulas defined and displays result immediately. Graphics, limited database capabilities, statistical analysis, built in business functions, optimization are some of the important features in spreadsheets.

Database applications are used to store, manipulate and retrieve data. These are appropriate when it is needed to manipulate large amount of data and produce reports and documents. Manipulating involves merging, editing and storing data.

Graphic program can be used to develop presentations, illustrations and drawings, graphics packages can also help you convert numeric data in to graphic display such as line charts, bar charts, pie charts and many other types. Graphics programs are useful when developing advertising brochures, announcements and full-color presentations.

Personal Information Managers (PIM) helps individuals. Groups and organization store useful information such as a list of task to complete or a list of names and addresses. They provide an appointment calendar and place to take notes. The information in a PIM can be linked. Most PIMs include the ability to access World Wide Web and provide e-mail capability. PIM is a popular software application for personal digital assistants (PDA) hand held devices.

  •  Online Information Service


Online Information Service allows connect a computer to the outside world through phone lines, cables, satellite, or power line in some case. By the online information services it is possible to get investments information, make travel plans, checking news from around the world. Get prices and features most consumer items etc.

  •  Software suits and Integrated Software package


Software suites are a collection of single application programs packaged in a bundle. These may include word processors, spreadsheets, database management systems, graphics programs, personal information managers etc. some suites support the developments of web page, note taking and speech recognition.

Example: MS Office, Lotus SmartSuite, Sun microsystems, Star Office, Corel WordPerfect Office.
