1.3.1 What is an Information System ?
An information System (IS) is set of interrelated elements or components that collect, store and manipulate data and disseminate information to meet an objective or goal. it also provides a feedback mechanism. Information system can be either a manual system or computerized system
1.3.2. Main Components of an Information System

Input

Involves gathering and capturing new data to the system. The
type of input is determined by the desired output of the system. Input can be
a manual or automated process

Process
|
Involve transforming or converting data into useful
outputs by making calculations, comparisons and arranging row data.
It’s also includes strong data and information for future use

Output
|
Involve producing useful information, usefully in the form
of documents and reports. Outputs can be produced in different ways using different
devices. Output of one system can be input of another system.

Feedback
|
In Information System, feedback is output that used to
make changes to input or processing activities.
For example: errors or problem might make it necessary to
correct input data or change process. Feedback is also important for managers
and decision makers.
